About us

About the magazine

An independent magazine about travel, sport, history, faith and work — published from milesslaven.my.id.

Milesslaven is an independent general-interest magazine for readers who would rather understand something than simply react to it. We publish across five sections — travel and tourism, sports and competition, history and culture, religion and spirituality, and education and career — and we try to bring the same temperament to all of them: curious, unhurried, sceptical of easy answers.

What we do

We publish a small number of stories each week. Some are reported; some are essays; some are practical guides. What they share is a belief that the best journalism does not just tell you what happened. It gives you a way of thinking about it that you can keep.

Our writers are freelance and staff contributors who work across beats rather than inside silos. A story about a harbour can be a story about trade, and a story about a marathon can be a story about municipal budgets. We follow the subject, not the section.

Editorial policy

We are independent. We do not accept payment for coverage, and sponsored content, if we ever run it, is clearly labelled and kept out of editorial feeds. We correct errors promptly and visibly. When we rely on a single source, we say so. When a topic is contested, we say that too.

We use artificial intelligence tools for transcription, research assistance and illustration, but every published article is written and edited by a person, and the responsibility for it is ours. Our images are generated for the site and are not presented as documentary photographs of real events.

How we are funded

Milesslaven is supported by advertising and by readers. We keep the advertising light and the paywall absent. If you value the work, the most useful thing you can do is read it, share it, and tell us when we get something wrong.
